Pet Calf

Hi,

I would like you to meet a special calf called 'Grey Calf'. He is 20 months old and a 'Belgian Blue X Salers'.

He is called 'Grey Calf' because at the time I was introduced to him I noticed how 'cute' and 'sweet' he was and instantly took to his coloring of grey and white. As the story goes, I wasn't planning on him becoming a pet, although now I'm glad he did. Anyway, the name stuck and I didn' t think about changing it to something else.

'Grey Calf' is special because like so many other pets, he provides affection and has his own unique personality and character that makes him a little different from the other cows and calves.

Let's get back to my special attachment to 'Grey Calf'. Well, as strange as my affection for 'Grey Calf' seems to some, I want to help save him from the slaughter house, which in my opinion is a waste of an exceptionally good animal, pet, friend and source of affection. Oh, I don't doubt he looks good enough to eat but that is not how I would like the story to end for 'Grey Calf'. I would prefer this particular calf to continue being a pet and for that reason I am trying to find a way to fund his keeping, such as paying for his grazing, vet bills and necessary maintenance costs.

Since it isn't considered practical to keep cattle as pets, it's necessary for us to find a way to continue paying for him to stay on the farm.

I have decided therefore to write a Children's story book with pictures of cows and calves. I am hoping that it will be enjoyable to everyone who obtains it and help to raise awareness of the pleasant nature of cows.

The picture story book will be called 'Cows and Calves on the Farm' which I will eventually sell on my website for a small price of around $5.00. I'm hoping that this income will help to keep 'Grey Calf' on the farm. The other option is to continue updating this blog with some interesting information about the various cows and calves that live here.

Please let me know if you have any ideas.

Andrea
